Malta! Malta! Malta!

Note: None of the below pictures belong to me, ALL rights reserved to each photographer, media person etc

Ahhhhhhh I am so excited!

.....Next March me and my Tourism Management class will be going to Malta! All expenses paid by uni except for lunch! Granted we have to do presentations most evenings but hey travelling is travelling!

I haven't been on a plane since August 2011 to Jamaica which was my very first time so going without my siblings on a plane will be a nerve wrecking but exciting experience!

Couple facts about Malta!

1. Malta is quite close to North Africa, think Libya, Tunisia

2. In Malta 3 pin sockets are used like in the UK! Woo hoo no adapters needed lol

3. Weather in March ranges from around 16 - 19 degrees Celsius so not overly hot but still nice weather.

4. The people of Malta speak Maltese and NOT Spanish as I had previously assumed lol

5. To give you an example of how small Malta is, Jamaica (which is pretty small itself) i10,990 square kilometers and has a population of 2,709,300 whereas Malta is only 316 square kilometres and has a population of just 419,000 people! Small but perfectly formed!....

6. According to Acts 28 Paul The Apostle was stranded in Malta! and the people of the island showed 'Unusual kindness' awww

7.The capital of Malta is Valletta (we will be visiting Mellieha in North West Malta)

8. Kif Inti means "How are you" & Bongu is "Good morning"

I also found on YouTube this video on Malta, the music is..... a little strange lol but the country looks gorgeousss *day dreams*

Sooo excited to go, will make sure to do a post afterwards
Ever been to Malta? Any thing you recommend going to see or do?

Going virgin for a 2nd time!

Haha okay the title may be a little strange but hey it got you here right!

What the title means is that I bought some more Virgin Brazilian hair! I really wanted to try long straight hair so I thought I'd give it a try and as I cut the tracks of my last Brazilian (NEVER do that lol) it all shed and there was definitelyyyy no reusing it lol

I've been meaning to do this post for a while now but I thought I'd get some wear into it so I can see how it reallllly acts lol

I bought the hair from a company called My Hair Obsessions (you can find their Facebook page here) I bought it from their Ebay store, I was quite sceptical at first because I had never heard of the company & it's a lot of money to spend over Ebay but the reviews seemed good and I liked that you could buy groups of bundles for one price instead of buying them individually.
I bought inches 14, 16, 18 & 20 for one price of £180 (thank goodness for working over the summer lol) It may seem a lot but anyone who's shopped around can tell you this is a gooood price!

The deliver was only £4 & it was First Class post! (I had to wait a few days longer as post obviously doesn't deliver on weekends but that's not the company's fault of course)

When it did arrive I was so pleased! Here's how the bundles were packaged....

They arrived all in one pouch, seemed small at first but yep they were all in there!

Sorry for the bad quality but each bundle came with a label with the type of hair ticked, the inch circled, the texture circled & also tells you how much it weighs
Layed out in height (inch) order lol

The lovely and very talented Patricia from P Belle beauty done my hair for me, her company PBelleBeauty are based in Canterbury & London and she charges extremely good prices! Especially considering she comes to you, you can find her Facebook page here and her Twitter page here. She talks through everything she does step by step and always makes sure you're happy with the result, talking of results here's how my hair came out!....

The hair was really silky and had extremely minimum shedding!
One week with the hair it's lost a lot of its shine & seems more dry even though the shedding is still extremely low....

It still looks pretty good though and I found a tip on Youtube that helps with dryness..

1.Brush out the hair
2. Dampen the hair but don't saturate it
3.Use a small amount of frizz serum
4.Straighten

Here's the serum I used....
It is Shockwaves Shine & Anti Frizz serum with heat protectant.

Anyway just thought I'd share what I'm up to with my hair, was considering bleaching the tips but I don't want it to get any dryer.

Know how to lighten your hair without bleach? Drop me a comment below!

I bought some new lashes! Woop!
I have naturally long lashes but I love buying them to wear on special occasions (special occasions as in when the lash actually decides stick to my eye properly -__- lol)
I hadn't even planned to buy any but then I saw in Superdrug that the Girls Aloud range had a new one out! The 10th Anniversary Celebration Lash!
Girls Aloud lashes have always appeared to me to be good quality and natural looking so I thought I'd give them a try! (This specific lash is meant to be a combination of all the Girls Aloud eyelashes)
When I buy lashes I always try and find ones that have a clear lash line instead of a thick black one because to me they look unnatural and are really hard for me to glue on lol! :'(

The packaging:

The contents:

The lashes! They start thin at the centre then gradually wing out thicker (You see what I mean about the clear lash line)

The glue (sorry for the blur)

Free Girls Aloud lanyard

Instruction leaflet
The glue isn't the worst I've tried, it kept one of the lashes on all night but the other lash I accidentally lashed and it came a bit loose haha! I should have used more (use quite a bit of glue)

Here's the finished product below! Ignore the slightly strange face expression haha!

Do you wear lashes? Got a favourite? Post below!

Losing the birthday chubba

I'm not 100% sure of how much weight I put on over the week of my birthday (if any) but you know when you feel so sluggish & unhealthy...yeah that lol and plus my meals went a little something like this:

Fry up with milkshake & Mcdonalds all in one day, Chimichangas for lunch one day then a meal out in the evening, Chinese buffet on my actual birthday & that doesn't even include the birthday cakes & desserts urghhhhh lol! But no regrets! I really enjoyed my birthday & the food was yummy!
(All rights reserved)

....Just means I have to kick my butt this week! Which is going well so far :D

I've had one week of unhealthy food so trying to make this week one with healthy food,

Plan

  • Run every morning - this has been going well! We skipped Tuesdays because it was raining HARD and who wants to run with soggy clothes & hair *shudders* so we stayed home & done this HIIT workout from YouTube.
  • Squat & lunge through out the day! - Be it waiting for the kettle to boil or during ad breaks on TV I'm trying to get some squats in haha.
  • Drink more water!
  • Get more sleep
  • Eat clean (-er)!
Food ideas
Here are a few things I plan to eat & hopefully continue eating when I go back to uni

Breakfast
  • Weetabix with Honey & Cinnamon
  • Fruit Salad
  • Small Omelette (1 egg) with ham, onion or what ever is in the fridge at the time
  • 1 boiled egg with 2 slices of brown toast
  • Porridge/Oats with Cinnamon & Honey
Lunch
  • Omelette with 1 pitta bread
  • 1 baked potato with beans or cheese
  • Scrambled egg sandwich (one slice of bread)
Dinner
  • Seasoned baked chicken with broccoli
  • Prawns in curry powder with small portion of rice & broccoli (more veg than carbs)
  • Baked potato filled with mince & veg on the side
  • Chicken salad
Snacks
  • Celery with Hummus as a dip. (Red Pepper Hummus is delicious!)
  • Wheat thins topped with hummus, goats cheese or plain. (rice cakes work too!)
  • Cut up slices of pitta bread toasted in the oven (Crisp/chip style) then dipped in Hummous or Guacamole.
  • Green tea through out the day (love love love the stuff! And it's good for you! Result :D
Desserts
  • When I crave Apple crumble I'll make a mini version with honey instead of sugar in a small ramekin cup/dish
  • Fresh fruit
  • When I crave chocolate I'll have Horlicks Chocolate light hot malt which is yummy than regular malt & doesn't have many calories
This kind of thing (all rights reserved to photographer)
I also bought a 49p writing pad from Sainsburys to jot down everything I eat in the day (sounds a bit strict but it really helps because when you go to eat something unhealthy you won't because you feel guilty about writing it down) & to write down anything inspirational & the workouts I do.

Also! Don't be afraid to run! People don't care that your working out & if you do get weird looks think of the good looks you'll get when your body is in shape ;) Even when I wake up and don't feel like heading out I always am thankful I do because once you're out there you feel great!

Lets see how it goes! I'm on day 3 & feeling better that I did last week so that's a good start.
What could I do better? Anything I could add or take away from my food ideas?
Let's help each other out!

Super Slicked edges Some way Some how!

I hope the title portrays my desperation for a product/technique that can slick my edges haha! (curly bits of hair at the front of your head) I am prone to having quite...unruly re-growth & having my hair in a bun can often look messy because of the fuzz at my hairline lol I've been through so many products so I thought I'd give you a run down of the gels/serums etc that I have used!

Everyone's hair is different so a product may be perfect for you and rubbish for me but these are the ones which have given my hair grief...and also the ones which have worked best!

Still on a hunt for one that will make my hair look like this.....

(All rights reserved)
....and stay that way all day not just 5 minutes, this is Chilli from TLC btw queen of the smooth edges & baby hair, if you know what she uses...let me know lool

Okay so these are the products I have tried...

From left to right we have Elasta QP Glaze, Lets Jam! shining & conditioning gel in 'Regular Hold', IC Hair Polisher Olive Oil Styling Gel, Elasta QP Feels Like Silk liquid styling gel & lastly Organic Root Stimulator (ORS) Olive Oil Edge control.

1.Elasta QP Glaze (below)
Sorry about the jar lol every person I've seen with this product has the front rubbed off! Well loved or poor labelling? who knows haha.
This glaze is pretty good! the consistency isn't too thick or too wet & it slicks on really well! The price as you can see is only £2.99 and it doesn't make your hair too hard, my only issue with this is that you can sometimes end up using quite a bit & can make your hair feel sticky.
The smell is a bit odd but you get used to it.

2. Lets Jam! shining & conditioning gel in 'Regular Hold'(below)
I have just recently purchased this & only used it twice but from what I can see it is good! Not a bad buy at all! The gel looks black in the jar & I was quite alarmed when I opened it as my hair is brown but when when you put the product on your finger it's clear! *phew* No idea how they done that! The smell isn't incredible but it doesn't stink so that's the main thing lol. The product laid my edges down well! This product has my favourite consistency, not too hard, not too wet or runny....thumbs up!

3. IC Hair Polisher Olive Oil Styling Gel (below)
The smell of this gel is kind of like cleaning fluids, I do like that smell but not on my head lol! I've heard some good reviews about this company (especially their styling gel with sparkle lites, maybe I should have gotten that one) but for me this is the worst of the bunch! The consistency is very gloopy where as I prefer products for my edges to be a bit more stiff, it left my hair wet & my edges just curled up & ended up curlier than before so now I looked not just like a fluff ball....but a wet fluff ball lol!

4.  Elasta QP Feels Like Silk liquid styling gel
Okay here's another product by Elasta QP, the smell is better but still nothing to write home about (as you can tell I like yummy smelling products lol!)
The bottle got one thing right...it does make your hair feel like silk! The product is blue & feels a bit oily & sticky on your hands, it slicked my edges down for about 5 minutes but then they sprung up again but to get soft hair a little of this product is a good idea!

 5. Organic Root Stimulator (ORS) Olive Oil Edge control
Now this is what you call saving the best for last lol! This is a great product!!! The smell is so fruity & gorgeous they should make it into a shower gel haha! It comes in a jar which I feel could be bigger but I wouldn't mind buying another one as the price is decent. The only issue I have with it is that the product is quite hard to the touch making it hard to spread unless you rub it in between your fingers before applying. It is great though & with a bit of water kind of gave me my desired look!

This is how my hair turned out with Olive Oil Edge Control (above) on my edges & lets jam on the lengths of my hair....

Still looking for a product that will give my hair that sleek freshly relaxed look but so far ORS Edge Control is my favourite!

Here is the technique of what I used (probably well known but hey! I just realised today haha)....

You will need:

1. Toothbrush, not the one you brush your teeth with....please lol!

2. A bristle brush, mine is by 'Magic' & it has 'soft natural boar bristles'.

3. 1 thin tooth comb

4. A satin scarf, this is my beloved head scarf haha!

What I do:
Put product of choice all around on your edges, makes your you use a good amount, and brush it through with the bristle brush, you can also use the comb to make sure it gets all the way through to your roots, then wet the tooth brush and brush it all around your edges, repeat this step but with your gel of choice,  and style your baby hairs as desired. Then tie your scarf on tight to set the gel & when you remove it you will have nice smooth hair!

This is what I do but other peoples techniques may be similar or wayy different, what do you use? Know any great products I should try? Let me know!
