Travel with me: JAMAICA

"Travel with me:" will be a segment where I show you pictures from where I've been and where I'm planning/dreaming of going in the future!  (all photo's in this post taken by myself or family)

First up is ......

Trust me the tagline is true! Once you go to Jamaica it will stay in your heart and in your mind as a beautiful memory, of course every country has it's amazing and...not so amazing parts but this right here is a beautiful country.

Jamaica is the 3rd largest island in the Caribbean and the largest English speaking island in the Caribbean sea, it has a population of around 2,700,700 and is very popular amongst tourists.

Me, my brother and my sister travelled together last August (2011) to visit my grandad in Linstead, St Catherine, we also visited other places such as Kingston (Jamaica's capital), Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.

Highlights:

THE FOOD - haha! seriously imagine Caribbean food in the UK...now increase the flavour by 100%...beautiful! Got to try new foods such as Breadfruit and a variety of interesting juices. And everything is so FRESH!
The countries beauty - I felt a million miles away from home but just taking a look around reminded me of how why I wanted to be there, the landscape is so different to anywhere I've ever seen with my own eyes and it was spectacular.

The fun - I have never done a water sport....in my life lol!! and I got to experience going on a speed boat!
My brother done the driving and let's just say it was a bumpy ride ( I'm sure his ears are still ringing from my screams haha!)

This picture was taken in Ocho Rios (Ochie) where there is the famous Dunns river falls, it stretches for 1 mile and you get to walk up it alone or with a guide (sometimes you think a guy is just walking with you then turns out he's a guide and wants his money haha!, don't be tricked)

Meeting the family - I have family I've never met living all over the world but to meet family in the country of my families birth was just incredible. I also got to visit my great grandparents graves! I love my family so much the Angus/Ormsby family is so large and be warned I'm coming to meet all of ya one day:P

Montego Bay - I could write a whole post on this amazing place alone! by far my favourite part of our trip besides meeting and reuniting with family.

We spent literally the whole day on this little resort. There was food, drinks, water sports, clear blue sea, roller-skating...it just felt perfect. As I laid back in the clear waters and looked at the view in front of me, I still couldn't fathom that I was on the opposite side of the world, even though nearly everything was so different from the UK, it just felt like home.

There are some not so amazing things about Jamaica too! such as the crime rates and poverty in certain areas but I won't dwell on them to much. I feel the good out weighs the bad and would recommend this beautiful island to anyone!
                                                                                  God Bless
                                                                                     Nay :)
                                                                                        xx
