The Faux Bun

This is a quick little post which basically came about from me wanting to get weave off of my neck and experimenting with up-do's lol ( This can also work for real hair that's long!)
Put the hair up! Way up lol like a pineapple and spread it as though you were going to do a doughnut bun

Crazy face lol

Next tie a scarf around the pineapple hair leaving the ends of the pineapple poked out the bottom of the scarf like a fringe ( I really hope this makes sense LOL!)

 Et voila!
Pretend you don't see my dodgey lash LOL

Pin Curls VS Flexi Rods

I usually always run to flexi rods when I want to have curly hair but if you read my last post you will know that last night I fancied a change and tried some pin curls! I looked on YouTube for tutorials and found some great ones!

With the pin curls I curled each piece with a straighter (can use a curling iron) and then used my fingers to spiral the hair then pinned each piece on my head. The results in the morning were gorgeous! So it had me thinking.......  Pin curls or Flexi rods

Here's some pics.....

Before

After

Results!

  • Pin curls give great volume and bouncy curls to your hair, flexi rods give bouncy curls too but not as voluminous.
  • Flexi rods last all day! Like literally until the next day lol, but I'm not too sure if pin curls will as the curls have already dropped a tiny bit.
  • Pin curls take longer to put in especially as you have to curl it first (you can probably skip the heat and use your fingers straight away but heat helps to keep them in longer)
  • Pin curls are great for messy curls and waves where as flexi rod curls are more uniform and you can separate them to create huge Diana Ross hair! Haha!
So my verdict? Well...I like them both haha! If I knew I was going to be out allll day I would go for flexi's though and if I wanted bombshell hair for a night out pin curls would be where its at!

Which one do you like better?

Summer Ball OOTN!

Most uni's have a Summer Ball and my one is no different! It is every year in June and is a lot of fun. The uni gets famous acts to come and perform and they also have things like bumper cars, food, DJ's etc!

This year our headline act was Wiley but we also had The Hoosiers among others!

I wanted to buy a new dress instead of wearing an old one and here is the one that came to mind.....

It's the Topshop fringe dress by Rare London! It comes in a variety of colours such as pinks and creams but I had my heart set on this one!

Also seen on Leigh-Ann Pinnock from the band Little Mix

I've seen this dress range from £65.00 down to £25 and I managed to get mine for £20 from Ebay! Woohoo! (Someone bidded £8 for it but I told the seller I'd buy for £20 haha!)

Here's how it looked..

(Excuse the excessive posing lol!!)

It is a decent length dress but as you walk it rides up which is why it looks so short in the last picture haha, the bust was slightly big so there was some pulling up involved (pulling up the dress and pulling it down...imagine! lol) but besides that I loved it and received lots of lovely compliments!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Food glorious food! - Soup edition

Different from what I usually post but I feel like a proud parent with the soup I just made for lunch haha! So.Yummy...

I bought a great Tomato & Basil soup from Tesco the other day and thought I would try and make my own version to use up some of the tinned tomato I have lying about and it tastes just as delicious!

Nays Tomato & Basil soup!

Ingredients

  • 1 tin of peeled tomatoes (Chopped will do too! or even normal tomatoes boiled down)
  • Small amount of chopped ginger (You will notice my measurements are rather vague, I usually just dash & dash as my mum would call it haha!)
  • A couple shakes of dried Basil (Fresh is great too)
  • Tablespoon of Mango Chutney (Random but WORKS! Adds great flavour)
  • Anything to garnish (I used a bit of Rocket)
  • Some gorgeous wholemeal crusty bread to dip in
Blend the tinned tomatoes with the basil, ginger, and mango chutney then put in a saucepan on the stove to boil.
Serve in a bowl with the bread on the side and ENJOY!

Boots No7 Stay Perfect Foundation!

I recently went to MAC to take a look at some foundation and I found the most gorgeous shade that matched my skin, the coverage was great and everything was perfect....except the price lol. I'm sure one day I'll buy it but I couldn't stretch to that much at the time..so I was on the hunt for something similar!

I remembered that No7 do some great foundations so I headed there and I purchased the first one I picked up!

It's No7 Stay Perfect Foundation which has SPF 15 (always a win!) and is supposed to last all day through till night! (16 hours) and claims that it's rub resistant and non fading! Double win! (I touch my face a lot...bad I know)

Well I was sold! So I decided to buy it! And it was £14, not a bad price.

I love it! It has great coverage, gives a slightly matte finish which I love but I would suggest moisturising your face well before applying!

Here's how it looked on my hand...

Before (clean face)

During lol!

And after!

Pretty pleased!
What are you're favourite brands for foundations?

End of exams present...to me!

As the title suggests I bought myself some nail varnish to motivate/cheer me up in exam season! Only problem is I kiiiinda bought them before my exam instead of as a reward afterwards...oh well haha!

I looked on the interweb and found some cute polishes from Miss Sporty! I used to think of them as not very good quality and I haven't bought any from them since I was a lot younger but their new lines of polishes look gorgeous! I took myself down to Superdrug where they are currently selling them 3 for 2 (Woop Woop!) and here are the colours I chose...

Tangerine, glitter and a gorgeous Teal blue!

The pictures do not do the colours justice! They are so pretty! They also are extremely quick drying (minus the glitter one which takes slightly longer) and they have a wide brush which makes for an easy application!

Tangerine & Glitter lovely spring colour!

Once again these swatches really don't do the colours justice!

Check out the Miss Sporty range online and in shops such as Boots and Superdrug...at only £1.99 each you cannot go wrong!
I Might have to collect them all! haha

Hair Hair Hair :D

So I finally got my hair done! Nothing at all against my relaxed hair but there's something about long hair that is so glam and I love it!  (even if it is store bought but shhhh haha)

This is the hair I bought:

Sorry about the picture quality :( but its Sleek's European weave and I got two packs, one 18 inch in colour 2 and one 18 inch in colour 4, the hair retails for £38 but he sold it to me for £27 a pack :D. I had to take buses all over the Canterbury area (slight exaggeration) for a hair shop that sold hair in 18 inches but managed to find a shop in a place called Cliftonville about 45 mins away from Canterbury called Ethniche check them out on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/pages/ETHniche-Hair-Beauty/111039625573351

The hair falls so long on me and i've had 18 inch before but I really like the length! Personally it beats the Premium Now/Too/Plus hair I usually get, It does shed a lot but it's so much silkier than Premium!

Here's a picture of me with Premium Too and then with Sleek European Weave:

Sleek has a better shine but Premium holds curl better as it is more coarse.

Here are a few more pics of the hair :)

Not quite Brazilly but hey! i'm a student! ;)

                                                                               Nay :)
